What We Do
As per ORS Chapter 242, the Civil Service Commission is an independent, quasi-judicial agency dedicated to upholding a merit-based personnel system for government service. We ensure that employment decisions—including hiring, promotion, and retention—are handled fairly, transparently, and free from political influence. The Commission also serves as an impartial appellate body to resolve employment disputes and review personnel policy changes.

Qualifications

To be eligible to serve on the Civil Service Commission, applicants must reside within the boundaries of the fire district and must not be a member, employee or relative of a person affiliated with the Junction City RFPD. Preferred knowledge of the civil service system.
